On the 2nd, Lee Nak-yeon, the leader of the Democratic Party, criticized the basic income system promoted by Gyeonggi Gyeonggi Governor Lee Jae-myeong, saying, “There is no place to do it except Alaska.”
Representative Lee said in a meeting with reporters right after the parliamentary bargaining organization’s speech was over. When asked by reporters, “What do you think about this branch’s basic income,” he said, “Not many people think that it is a substitute for the welfare system. You all know it. It cannot be a substitute.”
This remark came after CEO Nak-yeon Lee presented the concept of’new welfare’ in his speech. It can be interpreted that he emphasized his welfare system while raising a question about the welfare policy of Governor Lee, a rival for the party presidential election. Representative Lee said, “Today, the goal was to present a new concept to the people. “We will select tasks for each field and present them to the people. The task extraction work for each field has already begun.”
Representative Lee proposed a new welfare system called’National Living Standard 2030′ through a speech from the bargaining organization, ▲Income support for each life cycle such as children, youth, adults, and the elderly ▲Increase the child allowance applied to the current 7 years old to 18 years old ▲Introduction of the national injury and illness allowance ▲Expand to 40% of all day care ▲The installation of at least one public elderly care facility per city, county, and district was suggested. He explained, “National Living Standard 2030 is to ensure the minimum standard of living in all areas of life, including income, housing, education, medical care, care, and environment, and aim for appropriate standards.”
Representative Lee released a sketch of the’new welfare’ system, which he first started referring to in October 2020, in 4 months. However, it is pointed out as a limitation that Lee did not come up with a specific legislative plan or implementation method for this.

Unlike Governor Lee Nak-yeon, who devalued Governor Lee Jae-myeong’s representative brand of’basic income’, Governor Lee Jae-myeong praised Lee’s bargaining organization’s representative speech, saying “Welcome,” and showed a contrast. Governor Lee said, “I think (Corona 19) made it clear that we must do our best to protect the minimum dignity of the people when the glass floor of the common people is collapsing due to Corona 19.” When the public annoyance and anger deepened due to the approach, the role of the ruling party was also shown by earnestly seeking inter-Korean relations after the establishment of the Biden administration.”
In addition, he said, “Representative Nak-yeon Lee made a speech by the representative of the parliamentary group in the National Assembly that he would consider both selection support and payment to the public.” Until now, each time the disaster support is paid, the two have been running a parallel line by dividing the payment method into selective payment (Nak-yeon Lee) and national payment (Jae-myeong Lee).
Governor Lee said, “The representative gave us an excellent direction,” and said, “I expect to show the party’s potential with the enormous responsibility and authority of 180 seats given by the people. I will do my best as a member of the original team of the Democratic Party.”
