Na Gyeong-won appeared in’The Taste of Wife’ on “PR for politicians running for election”

While politicians with high possibility of running for mayor of Seoul continued to appear in TV Chosun’s’Taste of Wife’, the Citizens’ Association of Democratic Press criticized that “there is a great concern that it will become a publicity broadcast for politicians who are about to run for election.”

Min Eon-ryon commented on the 6th and said, “’The taste of a wife’ is a serious problem in that other entertainment programs usually invite politicians to appear with the election season ahead. The reason for the recruitment is also presumed to be for the purpose of raising the audience rating by using a person known to be running for election.”

According to Nielsen Korea’s statistics, on the 5th,’The Wife’s Taste’ recorded 11.4% of the ratings in the metropolitan area based on paid households, and the highest ratings per minute of 15.4%. Min Eon-ryeon said, “It is very inappropriate to recruit a prominent politician to run for the Seoul Mayor by-election, who has only three months left for the ratings. “This is because the appearance of politicians promoted through entertainment programs can directly affect the election.” In fact, it was a broadcast that revealed the daily life of former lawmaker Na Kyung-won’s family and the human side.

According to the special regulations on election broadcasting deliberation, candidates are prohibited from appearing in programs other than broadcasting, press and debate broadcasting from 90 days before the election. Former lawmaker Na Kyung-won aired 92 days before the general election. Minister of Small and Medium Venture Business Park Young-sun is scheduled to appear on the 12th, but in the case of a re-election, the Election Broadcasting Deliberation Committee is formed 60 days before the election, and the standards are applied.

In this regard, Min Eon-ryeon said, “The fact that there is a concern that entertainment programs may become a means of promoting politicians remains unchanged,” and urged, “TV Chosun should immediately stop using the influential politicians running for the Seoul Mayor by-election for the audience rating.”
