‘N-th infection’ related to the Asan plant, a cricket boiler for three people in Daejeon and Sejong

[아시아경제(대전) 정일웅 기자] Three more confirmed cases related to the cricket boiler Asan plant occurred in Daejeon and Sejong.

According to the city of Daejeon and Sejong on the 18th, in Daejeon, a total of 6 people were diagnosed with Corona 19 the day before, and two of them are believed to be related to the Asan plant.

The confirmed cases related to the Asan plant were Daejeon No. 1164 (60 units residing in Seo-gu) and Daejeon No. 1169 (40 units residing in Seo-gu). Daejeon No. 1164 was a mother-in-law of an employee at the Asan plant (No. 323 Asan), and was confirmed after undergoing a preemptive inspection for asymptomatic.

Earlier in Daejeon, the wife of an employee of the Asan plant (No. 323 in Asan) (No. 1160 in Daejeon) and two teenage children (No. 1161 and No. 1162 in Daejeon) were infected with Corona 19. These families are found to have gathered together during the Lunar New Year holidays.

Daejeon No. 1169 was confirmed as an acquaintance of the wife of an employee at the Asan plant.

In Sejong, a 40-year-old (Sejong No. 213) who worked at the Asan plant before the Lunar New Year holiday was tested for symptoms of Corona 19 and was positive.

Sejong City is currently conducting diagnostic tests for three families living with Sejong No. 213, and the number of confirmed cases related to the Asan plant in the region may increase.

Meanwhile, it is confirmed that confirmed cases related to the Asan plant occur sporadically in Daegu, Gyeongsan, Chuncheon, and Osan, as well as Daejeon and Sejong.

This is due to the fact that during the Lunar New Year holidays, employees of the Asan plant visited their hometown and met their family and acquaintances without recognizing the fact that the first employee was confirmed.

The quarantine authorities predicted that the spread among factory officials will slow down after completing a full inspection of the Asan factory staff. However, as employees have visited their hometowns across the country during the Lunar New Year holidays, the possibility of sporadic nth infections is open.
