Myanmar situation worsens… more deaths in police firing | Voice of America

The political anxiety in Myanmar after the coup is worsening.

Major media reported that at least two people were killed when police fired at protesters against the coup in Mandalay, the second city on the 20th.

The shooting scenes are uploaded on the Internet social network, while photos of the injured are being delivered by foreign media and local media.

On the other hand, the ceremony is held on the 21st of the coming year for a woman in her twenties, Mia Tuwe Tuwe Kain, who died after participating in a rally earlier and suffering from a police shooting.

On the 20th, the Associated Press reported that the bereaved family announced plans to hold a ceremony in Naepido, the capital city on the 21st.

Memorial for Mya Thwate Thwate Khaing in Yangon
Citizens of Yangon, the largest city in Myanmar, are holding a memorial meeting for Mr. Mia Tuwe Tuwe Kain, who was killed by police shooting.

Cain was taken to the hospital after being shot in the head at the scene of the Naepido demonstration on the 9th. However, after being diagnosed with brain death, he died as a life support device on the 19th.

The memorial for Cain, the first victim of the protesters, is rising, and major foreign media are predicting that the ceremony will be a watershed for future events.

The international community’s concern about the situation in Myanmar is also growing.

State Department spokesman Ned Price said Friday that the news of Mr. Cain’s death was “in grief,” and said diplomatic efforts will continue to promote joint action by the international community toward those responsible for the coup.

European Union Foreign and Security Policy spokesman Navila Masrali also repeatedly urged the Myanmar police to refrain from violence against protesters, saying, “I express my condolences to Cain’s family and friends.”

EU foreign ministers will discuss the Myanmar issue at a meeting on the 22nd.
