“I got a positive reaction. This is a variant virus that should be reported to the World Disease Society!”

On March 18 last year, around 9 am, Jeong Seong-jae, 54, who lives in Gyeongsan, Gyeongsangbuk-do, received a phone call from his son’s doctor, a doctor at Yeungnam University Hospital. In the last test among 13 new coronavirus infections (Corona 19), his son, Jung Yoo-yeop (at the time, 17 years old) was positive. The doctor also reported self-isolation to the Jeong couple who had contact with their son. But at 11:16 am, two hours later. The hospital said his son had died.

Immediately after the death of the military, health officials examined the specimens of the military and made a final negative decision. The Jung couple accepted the government’s decision. At that time, Jung said in an interview with the JoongAng Ilbo, “There was a request for an autopsy, but the reason for refusal is because I believe in the negative conclusion of the government.”

However, Jeong interviewed the JoongAng Ilbo again on the 22nd, saying, “The government has betrayed its faith. In an interview ahead of a walking march asking for a fact-finding investigation into his son’s death, Mr. Jeong said, “I suspected that his son was confirmed for Corona 19 at Yeungnam University Hospital, but the government’s negative decision was to investigate the facts regarding the child’s death. It was because of the expectation that they would come up with a countermeasure,” he said. “However, for a year, the government continued to march in silence.”

Jeong is currently fighting the third stage of rectal cancer. With a heavy body, Jeong treats his son from Gyeongsan Central Hospital in Gyeongsangbuk-do, who refused to be hospitalized for his son suspected of Corona 19 on this day, and walks 380 km to the Blue House through Yeungnam University Hospital suspected of Corona 19. The Blue House is expected to arrive on the 17th of next month.

When he arrives at the Blue House, there are three things he will ask for. ▶Investigation of whether the medical treatment of the hospital where the son was treated was appropriate and legal ▶Apologies to the person in charge if there was medical negligence ▶The improvement of the medical system to prevent recurrence of unfair death due to medical blanks that occurred during the COVID-19 quarantine process.

Jeong has argued that “my son died due to a medical vacuum.” When the government died a year ago, it was when the Daegu-Gyeongbuk region suffered from the Corona 19 pandemic. At the time, hospital emergency rooms where Corona 19 patients stopped by were closed one after another.

Jeong-gun, who lived in Gyeongsan City, showed fever symptoms of over 40 degrees after standing in line to buy masks at a pharmacy near his house at the time. According to Jeong, Jung-gun visited Gyeongsan Central Hospital, but the hospital refused to be hospitalized, saying it suspected Corona 19. After a day, the condition deteriorated and the government and his parents visited the hospital again, requesting an ambulance to go to the tertiary hospital, but even this was rejected.

The day before the walking march, Jeong posted a petition for the Blue House. ‘Only the corona test was 13, and Yu-yeop, 17, was not dead from Corona 19. It is a petition titled’I was sacrificed by a medical blank hidden behind the K quarantine.’

In the petition, Mr. Jeong said, “I left Yoo-yup and attended a discussion on Corona 19 and met experts. In the process, I learned that Yoo-Yeop’s death was due to medical vacancy caused by a lack of medical publicity. I also realized that if Yoo-yup could not reveal the truth of death and buried it, the same unfair sacrifices as Yoo-yup could be repeated.”

For one year, Jung formed the Jeong Yu-yeop Death Countermeasure Committee (hereinafter referred to as the Countermeasure Committee) with civic groups and experts. The countermeasures committee will be marching with Jeong for a month. On this day, the Committee said, “By finding out the truth of the death of a student Jung Yoo-yeop, we must find measures to prevent recurrence of medical blanks, and make public health care one step further.”
