The price of the cryptocurrency (virtual currency) Dogecoin has risen vertically in a tweet posted by Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, an American electric vehicle company, on April Fool’s Day.

Musk tweeted on the 1st (local time) that SpaceX, the space exploration company he represents, “SpaceX is going to put a literal Dogecoin on the literal moon.” Raised.

Dogecoin is a cryptocurrency created in 2013 by software developers Billy Marcus and Jackson Palmer. It was inspired by the Japanese Shiba Inu memes (photos and videos popular on the Internet) that were popular on the Internet at the time. Shiba inu is used as a currency mascot.

Musk’s tweet that day was believed to be an April Fool’s Day joke, but Dogecoin surged 32% in an instant. Since then, the rise has slowed, and as of 7:45 am, Dogecoin is trading at 73.60 won, up 8.10 won (12.37%) from the previous trading day.

Musk, an avid supporter of cryptocurrency, has been showing interest since last December by continuously mentioning Dogecoin on Twitter. In February, a Shiba Inu in a space suit was posted on Twitter with a Dogecoin flag standing on the moon.
