Government officials at the headquarters of Geumsan-gun, Chungcheongnam-do and the Myeon Office reported that five or more people ate several times for business promotion expenses from the end of last year to the beginning of this year.

According to Geumsan-gun on the 19th, on December 29th last year, 20 public officials on the side of A side had a meal worth 320,000 won at a restaurant using business promotion expenses.

Following the government’s strengthening of COVID-19 quarantine, a ban on groups of 5 or more people was issued from December 23 last year.

In Department B of Geumsan-gun Office, staff encouragement and meetings were held for 7 people twice (49,000 won, 128,000 won), 25 (450,000 won), and 44 (350,000 won) four times from December 28 to 31 last year. The card was used at the restaurant in name.

On December 30, last year, 15 people spent 238,000 won in a restaurant for a business meeting with a group.

In Department D, which is in charge of quarantine, 20 people spent 280,000 won in the name of encouraging employees for immediate work on December 30 last year, and 9 people in Department E spent 105,000 won on meals on January 22. In the county office as well as in the county office, meal expenses for five or more people were spent several times as work expenses.

Regarding this, an official from the audit department of Geumsan-gun said, “As a result of checking with several related departments and offices, I had a meal by delivery or could not have a group dinner. A misunderstanding occurred,” he explained.

He added, “We continue to emphasize that public officials comply with the prohibition of gatherings of 5 or more people, and we will strengthen our guidance to prevent such misunderstandings regarding the execution of work promotion expenses.”
