President Moon Jae-in and Mrs. Kim Jeong-sook visited a traditional fish market in Soraepo-gu in Namdong-gu, Incheon, before Lunar New Year’s Day on the 10th, and gave their gratitude by encouraging merchants who are trying to revitalize the market amid Corona 19. Soraepo-gu traditional fish market is a market that reopened at the end of last year with modern facilities 3 years and 9 months after it was destroyed in a fire in March 2017.

When he arrived at the traditional fish market, President Moon said, “In fact, I wanted to inform you that Soraepogu Fish Market has been newly opened in a completely new shape,” he said. “Now that I started anew, it will work well.”

Afterwards, when Mrs. Kim picked things up in the snowy shopping tour that began, President Moon put them in a wheeled cart and went around the market. Mrs. Kim bought 2kg of octopus and 90,000 won for oysters and oysters, 20,000 won for a bag of giblets, a total of 90,000 won for one sea bass and one robber leg, 1.2kg of cod roe, 90,000 won for frozen blue crab, and a shellfish.

When Mrs. Kim said, “I’m not buying too much at the same time,” after purchasing oysters and Maeseng, worth 90,000 won to make Maesamyeongi Tteokguk, President Moon showed a friendly appearance, saying, “Because I have a complete purchase instinct.”

President Moon and his wife bought everything they bought at the fish market using Onnuri gift certificates. When Mrs. Kim tried to get it in cash because her Onnuri gift certificate was insufficient, President Moon handed a gift certificate, saying, “I have a gift certificate.”

Meanwhile, President Moon visited the newspaper for the presidential candidate during the fish market fire in 2017 and requested support from relevant ministries and special grant tax support for damage recovery and debris removal so that the stalls could escape from unauthorized conditions.

After the fire, Soraepo-gu merchants formed a cooperative, bought the site through local special grant tax and local government funds, and built a new building.

In December of last year, it was officially recognized as a traditional market by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and it was possible to apply for the use of Onnuri gift certificates and various market revitalization projects by the government after removing a 40-year license without permission.
