[이데일리 스타in 임정우 기자] MLB members expressed their condolences on the news of the death of former coach Tommy Lasoda, a legendary master of the American professional baseball major league LA Dodgers and the gift of’Korean Special’ Park Chan-ho.
Former director La Soda, born on September 23, 1927, died on January 7, 2021 local time. MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred said on the 9th (Korean time), when coach La Soda passed away, “Director La Soda was the best coach. His passion, charisma, and sense of humor further developed the sport of baseball.”
Chicago White Sox coach Tony Larosa, who competed with coach Lasoda, said, “Lasoda was a great communication leader. He tried to convey the joy of baseball anywhere, and he was a great leader and strategist. I will never forget Director Lasoda.”
Alex Rodriguez (retired), who was a superstar, said, “No one loves baseball as much as coach Rasoda,” and said, “He was a leader more than the’World Series championship manager’.”
“The Los Angeles icon and my best friend, Lasoda, has passed away,” said Magic Johnson, an American professional basketball (NBA) legend and co-owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers. “I watched the game and coach La Soda taught me a lot.”
Members of the Dodgers also participated in the memorial of manager Lasoda. Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw recalled that “Lasoda had the same humor every time and I laughed every time,” he said. “I will never forget him who commands the players and entertains the people around him.
Finishing pitcher Canry Janssen said on his Twitter account a video of former coach Lasoda singing at the Dodgers clubhouse and said, “This is the kind of coach Lasoda”. Blue (the color of the Dodger Steam), relax in heaven.”
The memorial for director La Soda continued from all walks of life. Former US President George W. Bush said, “I was very sad to hear the news of coach Lasoda’s death.” “Baseball master Rasoda was a great player, coach, and baseball ambassador. I will never forget his energetic appearance.”
