The number of inoculations of the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19) surpassed 220,000 on the 5th. It has been a week since the vaccination started on the 26th of last month. As the number of inoculations increased, reports of adverse reactions also increased to more than 1500 cases. The death toll after vaccination was counted as 6, with 1 added.

According to the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on the 5th, 67153 additional vaccinations as of 0 o’clock on that day, and the cumulative number of vaccinations increased to 22,5853. The inoculation rate compared to the population (52 million) is 0.43%.

In the case of suspected anaphylaxis, the majority of 12 cases are’anaphylaxis-like’ reactions that have not been confirmed to be severe reactions. It is different from’anaphylaxis shock’, which can lead to death, the authorities explained. Symptoms such as dyspnea and hives appear within 2 hours after vaccination. These clinical symptoms are similar to anaphylaxis, but they are said to be relatively mild to diagnose as anaphylaxis.

Anaphylaxis shock can be suspected if one or more circulatory symptoms, such as swelling or hoarseness immediately after vaccination, respiratory symptoms with shortness of breath or continuous coughing, and fainting due to shock, arrhythmia, and hypotension, appear immediately after vaccination. Skin or mucous membrane changes such as itching, redness, hives, and angioedema may occur. It usually appears suddenly within a few minutes and progresses rapidly. When medical staff take timely action and administer epinephrine, the treatment, most of them will improve. In Korea, there was one case suspected of anaphylactic shock.

A woman in her 50s who was admitted to a nursing hospital and was inoculated with AstraZeneca at about 2 pm on the 3rd, and 10 minutes later, she had difficulty breathing and was given epinephrine. Afterwards, he recovered without special treatment and returned to the nursing hospital around 3:30 pm, the authorities said.

The death toll after vaccination was reported as one additional person, and it was identified as a cumulative six. However, the causality of the vaccination department is still being investigated. The number of deaths known up to the day before was 5, in their 50s and 60s with underlying diseases in Goyang and Pyeongtaek, Daejeon and Jeonbuk, Gyeonggi Province. One person in their twenties who stayed in a facility with severe disabilities was also included.

The investigation is underway, but authorities explained that it is unlikely that the direct cause of the vaccination was caused in the case of death after vaccination.

Jun-wook Kwon, head of the 2nd vice president of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said at a briefing on the 4th, “Vaccinations are in progress in more than 100 countries around the world, and more than 260 million vaccinations have been performed. No other serious adverse reactions have been reported. Don’t be overly anxious,” he stressed.
