[시사포커스 / 이근우 기자] Moon-Hwan Kim (26) advances to the American Major League Soccer (MLS).

Los Angeles FC (hereinafter referred to as LA FC) announced on the 12th (Korean time) “We have recruited Kim Moon-hwan, a defender of the Korea K-League Busan I-Park.”

After joining Busan in K-League 2 (second division) in 2017, he led the promotion to K-League 1 (first division) in 2020. He scored 8 goals and 4 assists in 111 games in total, competed in the 2018 Asian Football Federation (AFC) U-23 Championship as a national team under 23 (U-23) and won a gold medal in the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games.

“Moon-Hwan Kim is a dynamic and exciting player, and will help our team with our international experience,” said John Torrington, LA FC general manager. As an intelligent and versatile defender, his current skills are at its peak, so they are all very excited about his joining.”

Founded in 2014, LA FC ranked 7th out of 12 clubs at the Western Conference last year. According to the club, Moon-Hwan Kim is a foreign player and will join after the International Transfer Agreement (ITC) and US sportsman visa issuance is completed.

Meanwhile, the Busan club said, “Kim Moon-hwan, who has given us joy and pride over the past four years, has been transferred to LA FC. We hope for good luck and happiness in the future, and let’s meet again with a smile.”
