Turk Gulsren Bozkurt, 57, has sold flowers near the cemetery for years. It was to pay for her daughter Merve Bozcourt, 25, who attended Oxford University, a prestigious British university.

The daughter asked her mother to supplement her tuition, saying she had passed Oxford University, and her mother sold flowers and handed money to her daughter. Earlier, her mother has been responsible for the family’s livelihood for over 10 years, selling flowers and paying her son’s college tuition. Even though it may be difficult, my mother said that despite the difficult family circumstances, her daughter who entered a prestigious university was just as wonderful.

‘A dedicated mother and daughter who attends a prestigious Oxford University’. The story of the two was also introduced as a moving story on Turkish television. Daughter Merve said in an interview, “I want to become a neurosurgeon after graduating from Oxford University.” He then pledged, “I respect my mother, and I will not make sacrifices in vain.”

After the broadcast, opinions poured out on local social media (SNS) that they were moved by the story of the mother and daughter, and also replied that they would like to provide financial support to Merve.

However, local media such as Sabach recently reported that a remarkable reversal took place in this touching story.

It was revealed that Merve had never attended Oxford. Those who wanted to give him scholarships inquired at Oxford University, and the response came from the university, saying, “There are no such students in our school.”

Merve was working at a real estate agency in Istanbul, Turkey, with even his family deceived. He didn’t have a passport, so he couldn’t even step on British soil where Oxford University was located. Nevertheless, for many years, he was pretending to be an Oxford university student, cheating his mother and paying tuition.

As the ripples grew, Merve finally admitted to the mistake, saying, “That’s the story I made up. I made everyone believe my lies, including myself.” Then he lowered his head, saying, “I’m sorry for making my mother upset.”
