MLB Texas coach “Yang Hyun-jong is excellent”

The first appearance of a demonstration game is well received

US Professional Baseball (MLB) Texas Rangers coach Chris Woodward highly praised the composure of Yang Hyun-jong (33), a left-handed pitcher who remained unshakable even in his first appearance.

Yang Hyun-jong made his first appearance in a demonstration game against the Los Angeles Dodgers on the 8th (Korean time).

On the 20th of last month, he boarded a plane to the United States and went through two bullpen pitching and one live pitching at Spring Camp in Texas.

Yang Hyeon-jong came to the mound as the team’s fifth pitcher in the first 8th inning, 4-2, after four Texas starting pitching candidates threw it. After getting a good two-out with 10 balls, he threw a flat slider at Dodgers’ prospect DJ Peters, and gave a solo home run on the left.

Although it was hit by a follow-up batter, Yang Hyun-jong finished the mission by catching the last out-count with the shortstop Hobby. In one inning, he threw 21 balls to get 2 hits and 1 strikeout. He also left 1 run point (1 run point).

According to MLB.com, Director Woodward said, “The home run was the only fault,” and said, “If our team knew more of Peters’ information, Hyunjong Yang would have played a different pitch.”

Director Woodward praised Yang Hyun-jong’s efforts to maintain his composure by collecting emotions. Although it was a demonstration game, he was excited about the first appearance in the big league, but it emphasized that Yang Hyun-jong was not shaken.

Director Woodward said, “Yang Hyun-jong threw the ball as we saw in the bullpen and struck the ball well,” he said. “The energy didn’t affect Yang’s pitching, which is very rare.”

Director Woodward also announced that “Yang Hyun-jong has a very good personality and has a good sense of humor.”

When Yang Hyun-jong finds his pitching balance and continues a good fight in the demonstration game, he is included in the opening game roster and fulfills his dream of throwing at the big league mound.

Yang Hyun-jong checks his condition with the pitching coach on the 9th and discusses the schedule for the next start.
