Singer Hong Jin-young’s master’s thesis was finally concluded by plagiarism, and his master’s and doctoral degrees were revoked.

Chosun University held a postgraduate committee on the afternoon of the 23rd and finally decided that Jinyoung Hong’s master’s thesis was plagiarized.

In early last month, Jinyoung Hong, who received his master’s degree from Chosun University in May 2009, was found to have a 74% plagiarism rate in the’Copy Killer’ test result, and was suspicious of thesis plagiarism. Was.

At the time, Jinyoung Hong explained that the excessive citations he made in the process of writing his thesis were “according to the customs at the time,” but he said, “The parts that passed without problems at the time are now judged by only a few percent, so whatever I say, it is an excuse. Afterwards, the Chosun University Graduate Committee asked the Research Integrity Committee under the University Research Ethics Institute to investigate whether Hong Jin-young’s master’s thesis was plagiarism, and after about a month of investigation, it concluded a provisional conclusion about Hong Jin-young’s master’s thesis as plagiarism.

In this regard, Hong Jin-young posted a handwritten apology on his SNS on the 18th, saying, “I sincerely apologize and ask for forgiveness even now.” I was so scared of what to say and my head was white. Until then, it seems that I couldn’t give up my greed. The moment I admitted it was plagiarism, I felt so scared that I would never be able to get on the stage again.”

In addition, Hong Jin-young said, “I will deeply regret accepting the provisional conclusion of plagiarism from Chosun University. Even now, I have made too much excuse for those who are preparing my master’s and doctoral thesis day and night. sorry. I will admit everything and reflect on it,” he bowed his head.

On this day, as the Chosun University Graduate Committee found that Hong Jin-young’s master’s thesis was final plagiarism, all master’s and doctoral degrees will be canceled. The Chosun University Graduate Committee said, “According to the plagiarism of the thesis, we plan to initiate an administrative procedure for canceling the degree.” With this, Hong Jin-young’s title of’Doctor Singer’ was also returned.
