The last gateway before the plenary session, the National Assembly Legislative Judiciary Committee.
The amendment to the medical law raised by the Welfare Commission is that if a medical person is sentenced to more than a confinement for any crime, except for negligence and fatality, his license should be deprived.
The Democratic Party, which led the bill, agreed, saying that medical personnel deal with life and require a high level of morality.
The people’s power side argued against it, saying that it is excessive to use crimes not related to medical practice as reasons for revoking licenses.
The difference between the views of the two parties was also revealed in the situation where the Korean Medical Association is pretending that it may not cooperate with vaccination.
Amid parallels of pros and cons, the ruling party postponed the proceedings to the National Assembly next month, saying that it is not in an urgent situation to deal with this law.
