Ministry of the Future, the 1st Creative Patent Technology Fair in Gwangju on the 3rd

The Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning and the Foundation for the Promotion of Special Research and Development Zones announced on the 1st that they will hold the 1st Creative Patent Technology Fair and Innopolis Convergence Forum at the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology on the 3rd and 4th.

The two-day fair will be attended by 200 people from industry, academia, research institutes, including Minister of Science, ICT and Future Planning Choi Moon-ki and Jeonnam National University President Ji Byeong-moon.

Among the 31 public research institutes in Gwangju and Daedeok Special R&D Zone, 1,000 patents will be exhibited. In order to relieve the burden on SMEs, 50 of these will be provided free of charge or in a small amount of 10 million won or less.

In addition, a total of four halls, including research and development companies in the Gwangju R&D zone, technology start-ups, and special zone promotion projects will be operated.

The forum will be held at 3 pm on the 4th at Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology Multipurpose Hall with the theme of’Role and Future of Gwangju R&D Special Zone in Creative Economy’.

At the opening ceremony of the forum, Minister Moon-gi Choi presents a certificate of registration to representatives of four research institutes, including Garden Plant, which was established by investing technology from Chonnam National University.

Next, lectures by Chonnam National University President Chi Byeong-moon and Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology President Kim Young-joon, subject lectures by Dr. Min Chul-gu, Ph.

“This exhibition was planned with the concept of’patent open market’,” said Yong Hong-taek, director of research community policy at the Ministry of the Future.

Regarding the forum, he said, “We plan to listen to opinions on the future development direction and role of the Gwangju R&D Special Zone and foster it as a creative core cluster.”
