Ministry of Science and ICT to commercialize ‘3-minute diagnostic kit’ for the first time in the world

The government is planning to commercialize it for the first time in the world by developing a diagnostic kit that can check the infection of a novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19) within 3 minutes in March this year. It plans to prepare treatments and vaccines with domestic technology.

The Ministry of Science and Technology Information and Communication announced on the 20th the ‘2021 Business Plan,’ which contains four key strategies for securing three sets of rapid diagnostic kits, treatments, and vaccines developed with our technology.

The Ministry of Science and ICT is planning to develop a rapid diagnostic kit based on semiconductor technology that diagnoses corona19 infection within 3 minutes with only saliva and is planning to commercialize it for the first time in the world by March this year.

In the first half of this year, a consultation will be made with the Ministry of Health and Welfare so that the domestic treatment, which has completed phase 2 clinical trials, can be quickly applied to the medical field.

We plan to develop vaccines under development with our technology through customized support such as preclinical and overseas clinical trials.

In addition, in the second half of this year, the Korea Virus Basic Research Institute will be established to lay the groundwork for strengthening response capabilities against new infectious diseases, and introduce and commercialize a pilot project for a modular negative pressure room that can be installed within five days.

We will actively support K-Defense by gathering the capabilities of science technology and information communication technology (ICT).

By completing the Corona 19 genetic map in April, we will support the development of COVID-19 treatments through animal model experiments and toxicity evaluation, and reduce the time to collect confirmed patient information from 2 to 8 hours to 10 minutes through the establishment of an epidemiological investigation support system. It is a policy.

On the other hand, the Ministry of Science and ICT announced that it will accelerate the digital new deal by building 6 additional platforms for data dams and 150 kinds of artificial intelligence data.

Minister Ki-young Choi said, “We will continue to push ahead with the core tasks of overcoming Corona 19, accelerating the great digital transformation, innovation in science and technology, and realizing an inclusive society.”
