Ministry of Industry, electric vehicle and autonomous vehicle core technology R&D investment of 27.9 billion won

Started full-fledged R&D support in 2021 to secure core technologies for future vehicles

A total of 13.4 billion won support for 11 new projects in the electric vehicle and hydrogen vehicle field

A total of 14.5 billion won was provided for 13 new projects for the autonomous vehicle technology powerhouse

[지앤이타임즈] A total of 27.9 billion won will be invested in 24 new R&D projects in five fields to enhance the sustainable growth and corporate competitiveness of automobile companies by securing core technologies for future vehicles such as electric vehicles and autonomous vehicles.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced on the 26th that it will start supporting new R&D projects this year in order to develop technology for core parts of eco-friendly electric vehicles and hydrogen vehicles and become a global technological powerhouse in the autonomous driving industry.

First of all, 13.4 billion won will be invested in 11 projects to support the development of safe and convenient electric and hydrogen car core parts for the early opening of the era of electric vehicle popularization.

10.4 billion won will be provided for eight projects in four areas, including energy storage technology, air conditioning and heat management technology, and hydrogen fuel cell technology, which are the core technologies of electric and hydrogen vehicles.

To increase the mileage of electric vehicles, we support the development of lightweight technology for hybrid structure battery pack cases for electric vehicles based on high-performance composite materials that respond to vehicle weight reduction.

It also supports the development of 800V class high-efficiency electric compressor technology for centralized thermal management system and battery pack thermal management technology with phase change material for rapid charging of electric vehicles and high power operation response.

In addition, it supports the development of new technologies in the field of hydrogen fuel electricity, such as the development of technologies for high-speed charging, fire-resistance performance and productivity improvement of large 70 MPa-class hydrogen storage containers for commercial hydrogen electric vehicles.

In addition, in order to enhance the competitiveness of large-sized hydrogen commercial vehicles, the technology to secure the durability of the fuel cell stack, the technology to improve the performance and reduce the price of the large-sized hydrogen storage container for hydrogen electric vehicles, the technology of high-pressure and high-volume components for the hydrogen storage system, and the technology to shorten the charging time of hydrogen are supported. Is expected.

3 billion won will be invested in three projects to create added value through the reuse of batteries for electric vehicles.

Through this, it is planned to develop a residual value analysis technology for utility as a storage device in application fields other than automobiles, a reusable battery model development, and a reusable battery applicability evaluation and verification technology.

◇ Invest 14.5 billion won in 3 new businesses in the autonomous driving field

In the autonomous driving industry, it will invest 14.5 billion won this year for three new businesses, including ▲ super-safe platforms, ▲ securing core technologies for providing multi-purpose convenience services, and ▲ support for activating self-driving untact services.

It is an ultra-safe platform project to develop multiple safety technologies and systems such as failure control, failure prediction, risk minimization, and emergency operation in preparation for international safety standards for autonomous vehicles. Support.

With the advancement of the autonomous driving function of the vehicle, the development of autonomous driving multipurpose convenience service technology to provide various services based on autonomous vehicles such as mobile offices, mobile game rooms, and live billboards, and a project to demonstrate this, total 273 in three detailed tasks. Of the KRW billion, KRW 3.9 billion this year is supported.

Based on the shared autonomous vehicle platform, it plans to provide 4.8 billion won this year out of a total of 28.9 billion won in five tasks for the untact service business for the demonstration and commercialization of non-face-to-face services such as unmanned stores and healthcare.

The Ministry of Industry is expecting the creation and commercialization of new sustainable markets by securing core technologies for electric and hydrogen vehicles and global leading technologies for autonomous vehicles through this new R&D project support project.

Meanwhile, in addition to this new task, the Ministry of Industry will provide a total of KRW 140.5 billion for the continuing tasks of 94 future automobile R&D projects in 18 projects this year, and will continue to promote the future vehicle core technology support plan to foster the future automobile industry as a flagship export industry. Plan.
