Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Byun Chang-heum appeared in trouble after receiving an unexpected question from the National Assembly’s government question on the 5th.

Rep. Kim Hee-guk, a member of the National Assembly’s National Land Transport Commission, said, “The Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport is in charge of not only housing, but also roads, railroads, and airports.” “Is there any” he asked.

Minister Byeon responded, “Yes.” When Rep. Kim inquired again, “What is the basic fare for a taxi, for the bus?” Minister Byeon hesitated and said, “Because I do it with a card,” he could not answer. In the hall, laughter burst out.

When Congressman Kim accused him, “The card doesn’t pay the bill,” Minister Byeon said, “We don’t check the charge.”

“The basic fare is 3,800 won” to Minister Byeon, who replied with 1,200 won.

Actually, the basic fare for a medium-sized taxi in Seoul is 3800 won. The basic fare for Seoul city buses is 1,200 won when paying with a transportation card, and 1300 won with cash.
