Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Byun Chang-heum said on the 12th, “I do not dwell on the seat,” and “I will follow the decision of (Cheongwadae)” on the 3rd Korean Land and Housing Corporation (LH) employee’s theory of responsibility for allegations of land speculation in the new city.

Minister Byeon attended the general meeting of the National Assembly’s National Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee on that day and said, “We will make the best possible alternatives so that the people worry about the LH crisis can be resolved, and we will take responsibility for the fundamental rebirth of the LH.” When it is not evaluated, I will not dwell on the seat anytime and follow the decision.”

With the spread of suspicions of Korean Land and Housing Corporation (LH) employees’ speculation of land in new cities, a sense of crisis within the Democratic Party is also rising. In particular, as the results of the government’s first survey announced on the 11th are being evaluated as falling short of the public’s level, demands for personnel measures against Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Byun Chang-heum are intensifying. The photo shows Minister Byeon Chang-heum in a vehicle after leaving the National Land Development Exhibition Center in Jeong-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul, where the office was set up this afternoon.

After it was revealed that some of the LH’s employees were the pre-owners of the 3rd new towns such as Gwangmyeong Siheung and the land around them as new towns, the responsibility for Minister Byeon, formerly LH president, has emerged. In particular, 11 out of 20 people who were referred to the police were found to have been speculating on the ground while Minister Byeon was in office as President of LH.

Minister Byeon replied, “There hasn’t been yet,” when asked by Rep. Kim Eun-hye, the power of the people, “did you express your gratitude to the president?” Rep. Kim asked again, “Do you have any plans to express your appreciation?” He said, “I will consider various things to judge.”

Already, voices in the government and ruling party demanding the resignation of Minister Byeon are growing. Prime Minister Jeong Sye-gyun announced the results of the first joint governmental investigation with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and LH employees on the 11th, saying, “Minister Byun cannot be free from responsibility” and said, “I will consider (about his move).” .

Regarding the results of the 1st joint investigation team announced by the government the day before, Supreme Commissioner Roh Woong-rae said, “Seven people suspected of speculation in the new city were added, but it is difficult to see it as a satisfactory result of the investigation.” He urged that at least, at the time, LH President Byun Chang-heum and the current LH President, who was the head of the Gyeonggi region, should take responsibility and decide where to go.”

Chief Commissioner Kim Jong-min also said in an interview with MBC Radio’s’Kim Jong-bae’s attention’, “If Minister Byeon is in the position of minister or LH president and has command responsibility or has a problem, he will have to take responsibility.” It is necessary to take responsibility in the government,” he argued.

After a meeting with merchants at Gwangjang Market in Jongno-gu, Seoul, Chairman Nak-yeon Lee, the chairman of the Standing Election Countermeasures, pressed indirectly, saying, “I firmly believe that Minister Byeon Chang-heum is not a person who is obsessed with the seat” did.

Meanwhile, as a result of the first round of investigation by the joint investigation team, the government found a total of 20 people in addition to the 13 people that were pointed out when the civic group first raised the allegation of speculation. Eleven of them were found to have purchased land in the new city when Byeon was in office as President of LH. The joint investigation team will request an investigation with the Special Investigation Headquarters for these 20 people, and conduct a second investigation on the spouses and direct relatives of local governments and local public enterprises, the Ministry of Land, and LH employees.
