‘BAFTA’ nominations to be held on the 11th of next month

The film’Buttercup’ was nominated in six categories including the Foreign Language Film Award, the Director Award, and the Supporting Actor Award at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA), which is called the British Academy.
On the 9th (local time), BAFTA revealed 50 nominations prior to the ‘2021 BAFTA Awards’ held on April 11th. ‘Minari’ was nominated for the Best Director Award, Foreign Language Film Award, Best Supporting Actress (Yoon Yeo-jung), Best Supporting Actor Award (Alan Kim), Music Award, and Casting Award.
‘Buttercup’ is expected to compete with’Quovadis, Aida?’ of Denmark’s’Another Round’, Russia’s’Deer Comrade’, France’s’Remiserable’ and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Meanwhile,’Nomadland’ and’The Rocks’ by Chinese director Chloe Zhao were registered as nominations in 7 categories, and’The Father’,’Mank’, and’Priming Young Woman’ along with’Minari’ as nominations in 6 categories done. ‘The Father’,’The Mauritania’,’Nomadland’,’Promising Young Woman’, and’The Trial of the Chicago 7’were nominated for the best work awards.
Actor Yoon Yeo-jung is Niam Alga from’The End’, Ko Sar Ali from’The Rocks’, Maria Bakarova from’Borat Subsequence Movie Film’, Dominic Fishbag from’Judas and the Black Messiah’, Ashley Mather from’County Lines’ Together with Quie, he was nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Award.
‘Buttercup’ continues to build an award-winning record at major film festivals around the world. After winning the Foreign Language Film Awards at the two major American film awards, Golden Globes, he also won the same award at Critics’ Choice, which is chosen by American critics.

At the 17th Glasgow Film Festival, which opened on the 24th of last month,’Buttercup’ was selected as the opening film and screened online. There was a lot of interest in the first release of’Buttercup’ in the UK, and tickets were sold out early and additional sales were made. The BBC gave a perfect score for’Buttercup’ in a movie review, saying, “The film is full of warmth and sincerity, so it will reach the hearts of the audience anywhere.”
The Glasgow Film Festival selected Korea in the’Country Focus’ category this year. Director Woo Min-ho’s’Namsan’s Directors’, Hong Ui-jung’s’No Sound’, Choi Jae-hoon’s’Swordsman’, Shim Chan-Yang’s ‘The Days We Met Again’, Director Lim Jung-eun’s’Hour Midnight’ was selected. On the 5th, the Korean Cultural Center in Seoul and the Glasgow Film Festival co-hosted an event in which British programmer Anton Bitel and director Woo Min-ho and Hong Ui-jeong talked with local film officials online.
Meanwhile, Korean director Isaac Jung (Korean name Jeong Isaac), who directed ‘Minari’, was nominated for the Director Award awarded by the American Supervisory Association (DGA). The film was also nominated for Best Works awarded by the American Producers’ Association (PGA).
Meanwhile, last year at BAFTA, director Bong Joon-ho’s’Parasite’ was nominated in four categories, including Best Picture, Director, Foreign Language Film, and Original Screenplay, and received the Foreign Language Film and Original Screenwriting awards. Prior to this, director Park Chan-wook’s’Girl’ won the 2018 Foreign Language Film Awards.
