Danil Medvedev (Russia, 4th place) was on the final stage of the Australian Open.

Medvedev defeated Stefanos Chichipas (6th place in Greece) 3-0 (6-4, 6-2, 7-5) in the men’s singles semi-finals held at Melbourne Park in Melbourne, Australia on the 19th.

This is Medvedev’s first personal career in the Australian Open final. The singles final stage of the major tournament is the second since the runner-up at the 2019 US Open.

Medvedev fights for the championship with Novak Djokovic (Serbia, 1st place), who arrived in the final the day before. Djokovic leads the match by 4-3, but Medvedev won in the recent confrontation (November 2020 ATP Finals).

Medvedev, who caught the first set, took a more overwhelming appearance in the second set. Chichipas, who defeated Rafael Nadal (2nd place in Spain) two days ago by Medvedev’s skillful management, collapsed helplessly.

Medvedev, who also advanced from the beginning of the 3rd set, allowed a short chase in the mid-to-late half, but took two games in a row at 5-5, marking the end of victory.
