The Korean Medical Association (Medical Association) declared the’National Medical Crisis’ saying that a situation has come to be difficult for the medical community to handle amid the third pandemic of the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19).
On the afternoon of the 23rd, Chairman of the Medical Association Choi, Choi, held an online and offline press conference at the temporary hall in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, and said, “The current situation is not enough for the medical community to handle it.” I have it in front of me.
Chairman Choi said, “We need to seriously consider the incidental damage caused by Corona 19. If we focus too much on the treatment of Corona 19, it can endanger the lives of patients suffering from other diseases.”
Chairman Choi said, “As of December, the excess mortality rate (of the population as a whole) has risen by 6% compared to last year, which is close to 20,000 per year,” he said. “We need a strategy to reduce not only Corona 19 but also indirect death resulting from it.
Chairman Choi exclaimed, “Form a’National Emergency Medical Committee’ to overcome the national medical crisis and establish comprehensive measures as soon as possible.”
He stressed that “a joint public-private system including medical experts should be launched.”
Chairman Choi said, “The government, the medical community, and the people must work together to overcome the crisis,” and said, “Please do not let go of tension in the future.”
