Families of industrial accidents, such as Kim Mi-sook, chairman of the Kim Yong-gyun Foundation and Lee Yong-gwan, chairman of the Hanbit Media Labor Rights Center, are continuing the hunger strike for the 20th day, urging the enactment of the Act on the Enactment of the Corporate Punishment Act for Serious Accidents. In response to the government’s retreat from the original plan, the movement to hunger in harmony with the labor and civil society expanded, and the media workers also entered the hungered hunger of 10,000.
29 executives, including the head of the press union chairman Oh Jeong-hoon, the executive department and secretariat activists, the Buddhism Broadcasting Branch of the press union, the small book branch, KBS Mediatech branch, MBC headquarters, and the executive department of the SBS headquarters urged’enactment of the severe disaster corporate punishment law within the year without retreat. He began to fast with daily synchronization.
Chairman Oh said, “The mother of a worker Kim Yong-gyun, the father of PD Lee Han-bit, has been fasting for the 20th day on a cold floor hoping to enact the severe disaster corporate punishment law. In this situation, the party and the government are committed to preventing the reform of the severe disaster law currently being promoted,” he said. “Many executives of the labor union secretariat and branch headquarters are joining the daily fasting ceremony today.”
Chang-Hyun Yoon, head of the media union’s SBS headquarters, said, “We are going through a concerted fasting at the level of the Democratic Trade Union and its affiliated media unions, but apart from that, as a single worker, I agree with the anger over the attempt to deal with the severe disaster corporate punishment law. Parents who have lost their parents quit their songs for nearly 20 days and appeal for the passage of the bill.

On the 29th, as the government submitted a revised bill to the National Assembly of the Severe Accident Act, which was retreating from the original plan, such as broadening the scope of probation of punishment and lowering the level of punishment, opposition from the labor community, family members of industrial accidents, and civil society are intensifying.
On the 29th, President-elect Yang Kyung-soo of the KCTU started fasting indefinitely, and 11 citizens, labor, and progressive political parties also joined. Prior to this, the bereaved families of late workers Kim Dong-jun, Kim Jae-soon, and Kim Tae-gyu, who died from industrial accidents, also started fasting. Officials from the headquarters of the movement to enact the punishment law for industrial accident families and the corporate punishment for serious disasters are pushing 2400 times to urge legislation.
