The movie’Buttercup’ won the Best Foreign Film Award at the American Film Awards Golden Globe.
‘Minari’, a movie about Korean families’ settling in the United States, was selected as a foreign language film award winner at the 78th Golden Globe Awards on the 28th (local time).
Director Lee Isaac Jeong (Jeong Isaac), who wrote Minari himself, introduced her daughter as “the reason for making this film” through the video, and expressed gratitude for the actors and staff who accompanied the film.
“’Buttercup’ is a story about a family, and that family is trying to learn their own language. It is a deeper mind language than any American or foreign language. I am also trying to learn and pass on it.”
The movie Minari is an American film written and directed by Korean-American director Chung and produced by Plan B, founded by Brad Pitt. However, if more than 50% of conversations are not English, they were nominated for the Foreign Language Film Awards according to the regulations of the Hollywood Foreign Journalists Association, which is classified as a foreign language film.
Competition with Buttercup included Danish’Another Round’, French-Guatemala joint’La Yorona’, Italian’Life Ahead’, and US-French joint’Two of Us’.
This is the second time that a Korean film has won the Golden Globe. Last year, the film’Parasite’ was the first Korean movie to receive the Best Foreign Language Film Award at the’Golden Globe Awards’.
Meanwhile, the movie Minari is a story about a family of immigrants who rely on each other and move toward hope despite conflict in an unfamiliar environment. Leading roles were Steven Yeon, Han Ye-ri, and Yoon Yeo-jung.
