[미디어SR 길나영 기자] In connection with the sentence of probation in prison for the company that supplied the patties by McDonald’s Korea, the official stated that “the problem patties are not related to the case of a child victimized by hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS).”
McDonald’s announced on the 27th, “We are concerned about creating anxiety and unnecessary misunderstandings for customers, our employees, franchisees, and business partners in relation to the trial of previous suppliers.”
On the 26th, Judge Jang Young-chae, the sole criminal 11 of the Seoul Central District Court, sentenced Song Mo, the management director of a beef patty supplier, M Company, who was charged with violating the Livestock Sanitation Act, to three years in prison and four years probation.
The plant manager and the quality control team leader were also sentenced to three years in prison, four years in probation, and two years in prison and four years in probation. Company M, who was prosecuted together under the concession rules, was sentenced to a fine of 40 million won.
McDonald’s said, “The case of the supplier is completely unrelated to the HUS-related patties and the manufacturing timing is different,” and said, “The former patty supplier has stopped trading in 2017 as a company that has no further business relationship.” Emphasized.
McDonald’s continued, “We take food safety as our most important value, and we are doing our best to manage quality and safety,” said McDonald’s. “All stores have only high quality products that meet the standards of quality and food safety and the authorities. “We will do our best to provide this to our customers.”
A McDonald’s official told Media SR, “As soon as we became aware of the facts related to the previous patty supplier, we immediately took necessary measures, such as collection and disposal of the remaining stock. Instead of using the term’Hamburger’s disease’ that can cause misunderstandings in general, please use it as the correct disease name (hemolytic uremic syndrome).”
