Legendary boxer Marvin Hagler (USA) passed away. Age 66.

Hagler, a member of the F4 (Fabulous 4), who led the mid-weight class heyday in the 1980s, along with Sugar Ray Leonard (55, USA), Roberto Duran (60, Panama), and Thomas Hearns (53, USA) Time) He died at his home in New Hampshire. Hagler’s wife Kay G. Hagler announced through social media that “Unfortunately, my beloved husband Marvin has passed away.”

Raised by her mother from a Newark slum, New Jersey, USA, Hagler had a difficult childhood. He accepted his mother’s teaching, “Don’t fight others,” and learned boxing instead of fighting on the street. Hagler reached the top of the National Amateur Championship in 1973 when he was 18 years old, and soon jumped into professional boxing. In 1980, he defeated Alan Minter to become the World Boxing Council (WBC) and World Boxing Association (WBA) Middleweight Unified Champion.

Hagler became more famous thanks to his confrontation with his rivals. Hagler, who had been triumphantly, won the International Boxing Federation (IBF) championship belt in 1983, and won 15 times against Duran, who raised the weight to the middle, and blocked Duran’s dominance of the three weight classes. And in 1985, even Heonz, who also raised the weight class, defeated TKO in the third round. The commentator for this match was Leonard.

Hagler confronts Leonard in 1987. Leonard made a comeback after retirement, and Hagler gave up two of the three championship belts to confront Leonard. Hagler lost amid controversy over the decision, and when Leonard refused to accept his request for a rematch, he eventually retired. 67 matches 62 wins (52 KO), 2 draws, 3 losses. Hagler was praised as “Marvin, the marvelous” for his solid boxing, which was built on sincerity, although it wasn’t flashy.
