Deputy Minister Kim said, “The next task is to provide adequate protection for atypical workers who are excluded from the application of the existing labor laws.” In addition, as a protective device for atypical workers, he added, “There is an approach to individually enacting laws appropriate to the characteristics of each field, based on the Labor Standards Act.”
Lastly, he diagnosed, “With the advance of the digital revolution and the emergence of the gig economy, the way we work has become more diverse and the boundaries between labor, companies, and markets have blurred.”
As an alternative to this, Vice Minister Kim predicted, “This year will be a year in which discussions on improving the labor law system will rapidly evolve in line with this trend.”
