【Today News Reporter Han Young-sun】 Starting on the 25th of this month, residents living in apartments nationwide must separate and discard transparent plastic bottles.

The Ministry of Environment announced on the 23rd that in accordance with the revised’Guidelines on the Separate Collection of Recyclable Resources, etc.’, separate and separate disposal of transparent PET bottles will be implemented in apartment houses nationwide from the 25th. In addition, we will strengthen cooperation with related industries to recycle recycled PET bottles as high-quality products such as clothing, bags, and shoes.

Separate discharging of transparent PET bottles is implemented for apartments subject to mandatory management under the Apartment Housing Act. This applies to apartments with more than 300 households, or apartments with more than 150 households with elevators or central heating.

In December, the Ministry of Environment distributed 50,000 sacks that can separately contain transparent PET bottles to apartments and related companies across the country in December to settle a separate discharge environment.

The discharged transparent PET bottles are recycled through collection companies, sorting companies (126 private) and recycling companies (24).

In addition, high-quality recycled PET will be produced at a facility that separately manages transparent PET bottles.

The Ministry of Environment plans to diversify the use of recycling into long fibers and PET bottles used in clothes, bags, and shoes, as well as cotton and egg plates, which were mainly recycled in the past in cooperation with the industry. From February of this year, companies such as ▲Black Yak ▲Pleet Mama ▲Kolon ▲Amorepacific are selling clothes, bags, and body wash containers in domestic transparent PET bottles through pilot projects.

The Ministry of Environment consults with domestic manufacturers to produce domestic raw materials, such as: ▲Distributor’s self-developed product (PB) ▲long fiber in the clothing industry ▲automobile/electronic packaging containers, etc. We also collaborate with the industry. It is also planning to actively discover markets for direct overseas export of recycled materials.

“We will foster the recycling industry so that we can lead the market for recycled materials through the smooth settlement of separate and separate transparent PET bottles,” said Hong Dong-gon, the Ministry of Environment’s Resource Recycling Policy Officer. Explained.
