Mass production of’Lucid Air’, a sedan-type electric car made by US electric vehicle startup Lucid Motors, is expected to begin soon.

Lucid Motors posted a test drive for Peter Lawrinson’s Lucid Air vehicle on YouTube on the 11th (local time). Lucid Air, which appeared at this time, is a vehicle that is on the verge of mass production.

Lucid Motors asked Lawrinson’s CEO to reveal his honest feelings while driving the vehicle without having to familiarize himself with the script. Inside the vehicle, no one was on board except CEO Lawrinson.

While driving the vehicle, CEO Lawrinson highly evaluated the regenerative braking system and the vehicle body balance ability, but said that improvement is needed in the software that can adjust the vehicle motor torque.

Lucid Air was unveiled as a prototype (initial version) in 2016.

Lucid Motors said about Lucid Air at the time of its initial release. I can drive.”

Lawrinson’s CEO has strengthened cooperation with domestic battery companies for vehicle development.

He visited Korea in 2016 and signed a strategic partnership with Samsung SDI, and two weeks later, he also signed a partnership with LG Chem.

Lucid Air was unveiled in September last year in a form that was close to mass production.

The Lucid Air mass-produced type can travel about 823 km (517 miles) on a single charge. It also takes 9.9 seconds to reach a quarter mile (402.3m) from a standstill. It is characterized by a gradual increase in driving distance compared to the earlier version.

Lawrinson’s CEO predicted that vehicle production would be possible in the second quarter. Currently, Lucid Motors has set up a production plant in Arizona.
