Lotte Giants announced on the 18th that Min Byung-hun is undergoing cerebral aneurysm surgery at Seoul National University Hospital on the 22nd.
A cerebral aneurysm is a symptom of abnormal swelling and cracks in the walls of blood vessels in the brain.
It was 2019 that I first felt the ideal. It wasn’t at the time, but now the surgery is in the necessary stage. Min Byung-hun explained, “I had a close examination two days after the end of the last season. The results of the examination came out in mid-December, so I set the date of the surgery.”
Min Byeong-hun joined Lotte as a free agent (FA) ahead of the 2018 season. Min Byeong-hun, who played a role with batting averages of 30% or more in 2018 and 2019, hit only 0.233 and 23 RBIs in the third year last year.
Although he did not express himself, Min Byung-hun’s sluggishness was not related to a cerebral aneurysm. Min Byung-hun recalled, “Because I thought it was difficult, there was no end,” and “I couldn’t make excuses for that. It was very difficult.”
Min Byeong-hun, who entered the pros through Doosan Bears in the 2006 season, has shown steady skills since 2013, when he became a leading player. Min Byeong-hun, who finally reached a new season with systematic body management, skipped the spring camp for the first time in his debut.
Due to the nature of cerebral aneurysm surgery, it is difficult to specify the time of return. Min Byung-hun said, “I don’t know when I can recover. I’m still thinking positively. I’ll be back in good health. You don’t have to worry too much.”
