CEO Han Tae-geun (pictured), who had been living in the air for normalization of Air Busan, has stepped down. His record as the longest CEO in the aviation industry, which has been with the growth of Air Busan for 7 years since taking office in January 2014, is finally coming to a close. A representative who was evaluated for operating Busan-centered Air Busan, such as keeping the promise of “Every hour on the Gimhae-Gimpo route,” is resigning due to the aviation industry crisis such as Corona 19, and is feeling sorry for the local community.

Air Busan announced on the 24th that “A representative of Air Busan, who has been leading Air Busan for the past 7 years as a vice president and president, will retire.”

After becoming the CEO of Air Busan in 2014, CEO Han led the growth of Air Busan, recording sales of KRW 355 billion and operating profit of KRW 20.5 billion from the first year of office. Han’s achievements include the establishment of the Air Busan office building, the success of listing at the end of the year in 2018, and the entry of the Air Busan executives and employees to Incheon Airport last year. However, last year, due to the trade conflict between Korea and Japan, Japanese travel demand plunged, and Air Busan sales grew negatively, leading to a crisis as well. It recorded a significant operating deficit and lit red in Air Busan management. Air Busan was also unable to avoid the crisis that struck the entire aviation industry with the Corona 19 incident this year, and the deficit increased further.

Even in the aftermath of Corona 19, CEO Han made great efforts, such as introducing a’flight without destination’ product, which is the first of a nationality company to fly over Korea without a destination and then return again. In addition, Air Busan succeeded in raising large-scale funds by proceeding with a capital increase to raise operating funds, led by a representative, but Han was eventually withdrawn.

Representative Han said, “I was able to manage Air Busan without difficulty with the great help of the local community. I sincerely hope,” he said.
