(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Kwon Hoon = American Korean-American Daniel Kang (Korean name Kang Hyo-rim) took the lead in the first round of the Diamond Resort Tournament of Champions, the opening game of the LPGA Tour.

Daniel Kang wrote a 7-under par 64 in the first day of the tournament held at the Four Seasons Golf and Sports Club Orlando (par 71) in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, USA on the 22nd (Korean time).

Daniel Kang, who had unobtrusively swept 7 birdies, pushed the tie for 2nd place 3 by one stroke and tucked the top row of the leaderboard.

In the first round of this tournament last year, Daniel Kang took the lead alone by hitting 8 under par 63 strokes, but was pushed out of the championship competition due to sluggishness in the second round.

Daniel Kang successfully finished last year’s season with 4th place in prize money rankings and 3rd place in Player of the Year points, winning two consecutive weeks in August, when the tour was suspended and resumed due to a novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19).

On this day, when the sense of shot was outstanding enough to create 14 buddy opportunities, Daniel Kang was hot enough to have only 26 putts.

Daniel Kang pulled 3 birdies out of 5 par 3 holes.

The 15m buddy putt that succeeded in the 14th hole (par 3) was selected by the broadcaster as the’shot of the day’.

Jessica and Sister Nelly Corda (USA) hit a 6 under par 65 side by side to secure a tie for second place.

Last year’s winner Gabi Lopez (Mexico) also reduced six strokes to tie for second place. Lopez started with a tie for second in the first round of last year and ran to the championship.

Jeon In-ji (27), who hit a 3-under par 68, rose to the top 10 among Korean players alone.

Jeonin-in was tied for 10th place with Zofia Popov (Germany). We caught 6 buddies, but we were disappointed to see the triple from hole 6 (par 4).

Park Hee-young (34) and Heo Mi-jeong (32) finished the first day with a tie for 20th place (even par 71 strokes).
