It was found that President Moon Jae-in’s government support was the lowest for this government. The ruling Democratic Party’s approval rating also reached the lowest level.

Moon approval rating of 34.1%… Current government lowest

At the request of YTN, Real Meter surveyed 2510 people aged 18 and over nationwide on the 15th to 19th, and a public opinion poll released on the 22nd showed that President Moon’s approval rate for the implementation of the state was 34.1%, down 3.6%p from the previous week. The negative evaluation was 62.2%, an increase of 4.8%p. It is the lowest approval rating and highest negative rating for the current government. Accordingly, it was found that the gap between positive and negative evaluations also widened to a maximum of 28.1%p.

Until before, the lowest approval rating for President Moon was 35.5% (the first week of January this year). The highest negative evaluation was also recorded at 60.9% during the same period.

By region, the drop in approval ratings was remarkable in Daegu and Gyeongbuk (9.3%p↓) and Gwangju and Jeolla (5.8%p↓). By age, approval ratings dropped significantly among those in their 30s (5.8%p↓) and 50s (5.7%p↓).

Seoul National Power 38.9%, Democratic Party 26.2%

In the party approval rating, the opposition party and the ruling party had different directions. The power of the people rose 3.1%p to 35.5%, and the Democratic Party with it fell 2.0%p to 28.1%. Democratic party approval ratings were the lowest since the inauguration of the current government. The gap between the two parties was also 7.4%p, which was outside the margin of error (±2.0%p from the 95% confidence level).

In particular, in Seoul ahead of the re-election next month, the Democratic Party’s approval rating fell 1.4 percentage points to 26.2%. Conversely, the power of the people rose 2.5%p to 38.9%. It is a difference of 12.7 percentage points. In the case of Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam, the Democratic Party fell 2.8%p to 23.5%, and the people’s power rose 2.8%p to 42.0%.

Realmeter analyzed that the reason for the decline in the approval ratings of President Moon and the ruling party is that the issue of real estate is spreading as suspicions of speculation by the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) spread to local councils, other organizations, and opposition politicians. It is an evaluation that President Moon himself tried to evolve, but did not catch the flame.
