The power of the people has been demanding a full investigation by members of the National Assembly, a national government investigation, and a special prosecution law regarding the speculation of the employees of the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH). In addition, the Democratic Party announced that it would immediately accept the request for a special prosecution and proceed with a full investigation of the lawmakers.
On the 16th, Ho-young of the People’s Power of the People’s Power in the House said, “We are reluctant and demand that we conduct a special prosecution and state affairs investigation as well as a strong thorough investigation targeting the National Assembly members.” During this March session, the Democratic Party’s cooperation was also requested so that the LH special prosecution bill could be processed at the plenary session. In addition, a request form will be submitted as early as this day to conduct a national investigation on all land traders in the third new town, including Gwangmyeong and Siheung.
Joo Nae-ho warned the Democratic Party, saying, “Do not take any time until the April 7 re-election, and do not behave to escape the situation.” He continued, “Along with all the lawmakers, we are repeatedly asking for direct standing, local government heads, officials from public institutions, as well as a full investigation of the Blue House. I emphasized.
The People’s Power explained that the ruling and opposition parties are reviewing the method of simultaneously requesting the audit of the Board of Auditors as a method of conducting a full investigation of the lawmakers.
In response, Kim Young-jin, vice president of the Democratic Party, said in a call with Yonhap News, “We welcome the acceptance of the thorough investigation,” and “let’s go ahead immediately”. He suggested that the special prosecution will also be accepted and “let’s discuss the proposal of the special prosecution as soon as possible by the opposition parties and decide on a plenary meeting.” He also said, “I will actively review and discuss with the opposition party.”
Meanwhile, on that day, President Moon Jae-in apologized for the first time, saying, “I apologized for causing great concern to the people,” two weeks after the suspicion of land speculation by LH employees arose. President Moon said at a state council presided over at the Blue House that day, “Looking at the recent LH real estate speculation suspicion, there is still a long way to go.”
