LG Display announced on the 3rd that it will unveil the 48-inch’Vendable CSO’ panel for the first time at CES 2021, the world’s largest high-tech exhibition held online starting on the 11th (local time in the United States).

The bendable CSO panel is a display that can freely bend and unfold the screen up to 1000R (the degree of bending of a circle with a radius of 1000mm) by taking advantage of the paper-thin OLED panel.

For example, when watching TV, it is used in a flat form like a normal TV, and when playing a game, the left and right screens are transformed into a curved shape to increase visual immersion.

LG Display said, “The 48-inch bendable CSO is designed by applying the ultra-thin film CSO technology, which is one step more advanced than the existing CSO, and dramatically reducing the thickness of the exciter, a component that vibrates the OLED panel and makes sound He emphasized, “Without a separate speaker, the OLED panel itself vibrates and applies CSO technology that makes a sound directly on the screen, providing a vivid sense of reality as the characters in the screen feel as if they are talking directly.”

CSO is a technology that uses an OLED (organic light-emitting diode) display panel as a diaphragm to produce sound. Since the display itself makes a sound, it is possible to enhance the sense of reality as if the characters on the screen speak directly.
