LG HelloVision accelerates digital transformation of regional channels with the introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) announcers.

LG HelloVision announced on the 10th that it has implemented an’AI Announcer’ modeled after Lee Ji-ae, an announcer former broadcaster, with AI deep learning (machine deep learning). Lee Ji-ae’s unique voice tone and accurate pronunciation were implemented with AI video. AI announcers can be found in programs such as △Local News Corner △Weather and Life △Shop Together in our neighborhood, which are broadcast on local cable TV channels. In the future, it is planned to be applied to disaster broadcasts, regional policy briefing corners, and broadcast programs of untact cultural events.

The AI ​​announcer is characterized by being able to create a news video by entering text. Local news can be delivered quickly in situations where it is difficult for people to appear in person. LG HelloVision plans to use AI announcers first to deliver essential information such as evacuation tips for each disaster, and expand the scope of application to news alerts as the solution advances.

This AI announcer solution, which LG HelloVision and Korean AI startup Moneybrain have collaborated with, can digest a calm tone required for news progress and a bright tone for general programs. It is the result of learning the characteristics of intonation, pronunciation, hand gestures, and facial expressions for each tone for several months. MoneyBrain has previously joined hands with MBN in October of last year to debut as an anchor-based AI announcer Kim Joo-ha.

Ji-ae Lee said, “The time it takes for anchors to prepare for the broadcast is longer than expected,” he said. “I look forward to the role of an elite agent that can be immediately put into special news and breaking news from the AI ​​announcer.” The AI ​​Announcer’s’Weather and Life’ will be available every day at 6:45 pm, and the’Neighborhood Shop Together’ campaign video will be available every Monday at 11:10 am.
