[이데일리TV 이혜라 기자] On the 5th, E-Daily TV’s Big Money Part 1’News in Issue’ dealt with the rumors of LG Energy Solutions and General Motors (GM)’s plans to establish additional battery factories.
The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on the 4th (local time) that LG Energy Solutions and GM are discussing a plan to build an electric vehicle battery cell plant in Tennessee, USA. WSJ added that the location of the factory and whether it will be promoted has not been confirmed.
LG Energy Solutions has already formed a joint venture with GM to build an electric vehicle battery plant in Ohio, USA. Upon completion, it will produce a battery that can be installed in 30GWh (gigawatt hours) and 450,000 high-performance electric vehicles. In addition, when this expansion is promoted, the scale of battery production of LG Energy Solutions in the US is expected to reach 65GWh.
Meanwhile, LG Energy Solutions is currently in the process of entering the securities market. The listing time is expected to be in August as early as possible.
