[에너지경제신문 여헌우 기자] LG Electronics is advancing into the global premium TV market with OLED, mini-LED TV,’QNED’, and nanocells.

LG Electronics announced on the 10th that it will unveil its 2021 TV lineup.

LG Electronics is a next-generation panel, with self-luminous (self-lit) OLED, which is more perfect as a next-generation panel. It will strengthen its targeting in the global premium TV market with a triangular flight leading up to the premium LCD TV lineup.

This year’s LG Electronics premium LCD TV lineup will include a new LG QNED TV that was released at the end of last month. LG Electronics is planning to launch more than 10 models of QNED TVs in the global market, including 8K and 4K resolutions, focusing on ultra-large product lines.

LG QNED TV is based on an 86-inch (screen diagonal length of about 218cm) 8K (7680×4320) resolution product, and about 30,000 mini-LEDs are mounted on the backlight. There are 2500 local dimming zones.

This product has significantly upgraded the brightness and contrast ratio. Using all of the representative high-color reproduction technologies used in the industry, it has raised the color reproduction rate to the highest level among LCD TVs.

LG Electronics plans to reinforce the product composition of LG nanocell TVs, focusing on ultra-large units, and solidify its premium position in LCD TVs as well as OLED TVs.

In addition, LG Electronics is also releasing’OLED evo (model name: G1)’ for the first time, equipped with a next-generation OLED panel that has been further upgraded and completed with OLED device performance.

The OLED Evo emits light of more sophisticated wavelengths, expressing a clearer picture quality compared to the existing one, and showing a bright screen. The picture quality of LG OLED TV, which is best rated for its delicate image quality, overwhelming contrast and black expression, and wide viewing angle, is better.

LG OLED TVs are based on the overwhelming picture quality that only self-luminous TVs, each pixel emit light by themselves, since their first release in 2013 △4K (3,840×2,160) HDR (High Dynamic Range) OLED in 2015 The world’s first 8K (7680×4320) OLED △It is continuously evolving into OLED evo in 2021.

All LG OLED TV models use OLED panels that meet 100% color fidelity, which evaluates the brightness, saturation, and chroma of colors between the original and the TV screen from Intertek, a global testing and certification organization.

LG Electronics released the world’s first 48-inch OLED TV last year, and this year it is launching a new 83-inch OLED TV.

Among LG OLED TVs, the number of models of 70-inch or larger super-large products will nearly double from 4 last year to 7 earlier this year.

In line with this trend, the popularity of OLED in the premium TV market is also rapidly advancing. LG Electronics expects that this year will be the first year of the OLED TV market, which is about twice as large as last year.

AI image quality/sound quality engine Alpha 9 processor evolved to the fourth generation and became more powerful. The Alpha 9 4th generation processor is based on deep learning technology that analyzes more than 1 million image data and 17 million sound data, and has significantly upgraded graphics and data processing capabilities compared to previous processors. The 8K OLED TV (model name: Z1) is equipped with an 8K dedicated Alpha9 processor.

The artificial intelligence quality Pro technology recognizes and clearly displays faces, objects, and letters, as well as upscaling that enhances image quality. Dynamic Tone mapping, which used to analyze and optimize images for each scene, evolved into a more subdivided and analyzed method for each scene. It also saves small details on the screen.

In its new product, LG Electronics has largely reflected the trend of TV changing from a traditional audio-visual device to a device for customers to lead a variety of content consumption.

LG Electronics has completely upgraded the LG TV home screen based on the latest SW platform webOS 6.0. It has reinforced the content recommendation function tailored to customer preferences, and also shows information on life such as weather and information necessary to use TV.

Hyung-se Park, head of HE Business Division, LG Electronics, said, “We will further solidify our leadership in the premium TV market with a triangular flight leading not only to self-luminous OLED, but also premium LCD TV, QNED, and nano cells.”
