Today (5th), the board of directors decided to end the mobile phone business and sent a notice to the distribution industry, saying that even after the business was terminated, it would make every effort to provide post-service services such as operating system (OS) upgrades and security and quality-related software updates.

LG Electronics’ withdrawal of the mobile phone business has been 26 years since it started the smartphone business in 1995 with LG Information Communication, the predecessor of the Mobile Communication (MC) business headquarters. LG phone’s domestic market share is about 6.43%. According to the announcement of the smartphone market research organization Statcounter, the domestic smartphone market share as of March this year was 64.58% for Samsung Electronics, 25.63% for Apple, and 6.43% for LG Electronics.
