LG Electronics completed the construction of the nation’s largest energy storage system (ESS) and accelerated its attack on the ESS market.
On the 7th, LG Electronics announced that it has recently completed the construction of the largest ESS in Korea based on a single site in’Anjwa Smart Farm & Solar City’ located in Anjwa-myeon, Sinan-gun, Jeollanam-do together with a special purpose corporation (SPC) created by KCH Group, Korea Western Power, and Top Solar Group Revealed.
LG Electronics built a large-scale ESS with a power converter (PCS) capacity of 92 megawatts (MW) and a battery capacity of 340 megawatt hours (MWh) in consideration of economy and efficiency. This is the battery capacity that can store electricity that 29,000 households can use for a day, assuming that 11.7 kWh is used per household every day, considering that the average monthly electricity consumption of four Korean households is 350 kilowatt hours (kWh).
Based on the core technologies of ESS such as PCS, power management system (PMS), and battery, LG Electronics provides not only products, but also ESS total solutions ranging from design and construction.

The ESS supplied this time is equipped with LG Electronics PCS, PMS, and LG Energy Solution batteries. LG Electronics guarantees free 3 years of all ESS components including batteries.
LG Electronics designed the ESS to keep the indoor temperature and performance stable by completely separating the PCS, battery, and switchboard. The switchboard is a device that stores the generated power in a battery. In addition, through 24-hour monitoring and remote control, it is possible to quickly respond to unusual events.
In order to maximize safety, LG Energy Solutions’ battery fire spread prevention system was also applied. Even if a fire occurs in the battery, the smoke detector detects whether there is a fire, and water is injected directly into the battery module to block the spread.
