LG Display’s model is looking at the menu using transparent OLED in the’Restaurant Zone’ presented at CES 2021.
[파이낸셜뉴스] LG Display announced on December 31 that it will unveil’transparent organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs)’ used in various real-life situations at’CES 2021′, the world’s largest IT and home appliance exhibition held on the 11th of next month.
LG Display, the world’s only transparent OLED industry, is planning to show various use cases through three transparent OLED exhibition zones, including smart home, metro, and restaurant.
In the’Smart Home Zone’, a smart bed that combines a bed and a transparent OLED at home is presented. If necessary, the transparent OLED is raised in various aspect ratios inside the bed frame, allowing you to check weather information or watch TV or movies. The bed frame with a built-in transparent OLED is independently separated and can be moved freely.
In the’Metro Zone’, transparent OLED with high transparency replaces the window of the subway cabin, allowing passengers to check route maps and local information while enjoying the outside scenery.
‘Restaurant Zone’ proposes a concept necessary for the non-face-to-face era caused by Corona 19. By creating the same environment as a sushi bar, transparent OLEDs are installed in the space between customers and chefs, so that menus can be checked at the same time as a partition, and it shows an environment where sports events can be watched naturally during ordering and waiting times.
Transparent OLEDs utilize the characteristics of self-luminous panels that do not require a backlight to the fullest, and achieve 40% transparency compared to existing transparent LCDs, which are only 10%, and provide clear and clear image quality like glass.
“Transparent OLED is a technology that maximizes the merits of OLED, and demand is increasing in various fields such as shopping malls, architectural interiors, autonomous vehicles, and aircraft,” said Park Jong-sun, executive director of LG Display’s commercial business. It will grow into the next generation display that can be used.
Meanwhile, LG Display has held private exhibitions for customers at CES so far, but this time it is planning to hold a public exhibition for general visitors for the first time.
