Cha Woo-chan (34), who has renewed the contract with the LG Twins, plans to perform customized spring camp training according to the degree of injury recovery.
LG manager Ryu Ji-hyun said about Cha Woo-chan during the LG Spring Camp training held at Icheon Champions Park in Gyeonggi-do on the 3rd, “First, take a closer look at your physical condition.”
Earlier, LG announced that “we signed a contract with Cha Woo-chan for two years, a total of 2 billion won.” The annual salary for two years is 600 million won and the incentive is 1.4 billion won.
Cha Woo-chan has played the role of LG’s left-handed ace for the past four years. Last year, however, he suffered an elbow injury and began rehabilitation from July. It is currently in the recovery stage, but it is not in perfect condition yet. The exact timing of joining the camp is expected to require detailed adjustment.
Director Ryu said, “(Cha Woo-chan’s contract) is good news.”
Regarding the timing of joining, he said, “The important thing is the physical condition of the player,” he said, “I heard that he has been in individual training, but (we) must first check the condition closely.” It is explained that the camp training contents may vary depending on the physical condition.
It is clear to join Icheon Camp. Director Ryu explained, “(Cha Woo-chan) is currently being tested for a novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19). If a negative result comes out, he will enter Icheon.”
He emphasized, “I will decide if I can do team training together in the future, or if another program is needed, by looking at the status with Senior Training Coach Kim Yong-il.”
All players participating in this year’s KBO League Spring Camp must submit a negative Corona 19 confirmation to the Korean Baseball Commission (KBO) in advance.
An LG official said, “Cha Woo-chan received a negative test for Corona 19. The timing of joining the Icheon camp is currently being discussed.”
