Unnecessary feelings were a luxury for the two families on one roof, who needed power reinforcement. There were only choices for the team’s present and future.

The LG Twins and Doosan Bears made a two-on-two trade right after the Jamsil demonstration game ended on the 25th. LG infielder Yang Seok-hwan (30) and left-hander Young-Geon Nam-ho (21) changed their uniforms to Doosan, while Doosan left-hander Ham Deok-ju (26) and right-hander Chae Ji-seon (26) changed their uniforms to LG.

The key to the trade is Seok-hwan Yang and Deok-ju Ham. Doosan was unable to fill the gap at first baseman, which was caused by Oh Jae-il (36), who made a free agency transfer to the Samsung Lions at the end of last season.

On the contrary, LG needed a well-proven left-hander. Cha Woo-chan (34) was looking for a pitcher who would consistently serve as one of the starting points in the first team through a trade while the timing of his return this season is unclear.

Immediately after the announcement of the trade, Cha Myung-seok, 52, explained that “the relationship between Doosan and Korea was well aligned, and in the process of meeting the detailed conditions, it was a two-to-two trade instead of one-to-one.”

LG and Doosan have been active teams in trade in recent years, but the trade between the two teams was last in June 2008. At the time, a two-on-two trade was made between Doosan pitcher Lee Jae-young (42, retired), infielder Kim Yong-eui (36), LG outfielder Lee Seong-yeol (37) and catcher Choi Seung-hwan (43, retired).

Since then, there has been no trade between LG and Doosan for 12 years until last year. Even if there are players who covet each other, the peculiarity of rival relations using Jamsil Baseball Stadium as the same home stadium is one of the reasons why the trade cannot be easily achieved.

However, in this trade, I approached it from a business perspective. With the opening of the regular season approaching 10 days, the focus was on strengthening power.

“There was no burden or any such part (to trade with Doosan),” said Cha. “Doosan General Manager Tae-ryong Kim was the same. “I felt grateful to the Doosan Club, President Jeon Poong, and General Manager Tae-ryong Kim, who considered us as a trade partner this time.”

“The general manager can’t help but think about the trade all year round. Personally, it would be nice to reinforce the pitcher’s side, but that doesn’t mean that we won’t do the field trade.” We will continue to pursue trades that can increase the competitiveness of the KBO League while win-win with each other.” [email protected]
