[스포츠서울 윤세호기자] In July 2019, the wave of banned drugs, former professional baseball player Yeo-sang Lee, who shocked the baseball world, resurfaced. At the time, the target of the banned drugs was high school students, but this time it is suspected to be a former and current professional baseball player, and the wave is expected to be even greater.

CBS radio’Kim Hyun-jung’s News Show’, broadcast on the 11th, was reported by the Korea Anti-Doping Commission (KADA). He said he is a pitcher who is working as a coach for a club in the metropolitan area. He added that Lee Yeo-sang received 16 million won from the two players at the time in exchange for handing over banned drugs.

Amid the suspicion that the local A team player and the metropolitan area B team coach received a banned drug from Lee Yeo-sang, Team A said, “I haven’t heard anything about this yet. I will figure it out on my own.” The coach of the Seoul Metropolitan B club strongly denies this. An official from the Korean Baseball Commission (KBO) said, “There is no stipulated regulation for possession of prohibited drugs. However, the disciplinary action imposed by KADA will be applied to the disciplinary action related to prohibited substances.”

Yeo-sang Lee, who joined Samsung in 2006 as an upbringing player, played for Hanwha from 2007 to 2013 and for Lotte from 2014 to April 2017. After retirement, he ran a youth baseball class in Seoul, where he directly injected anabolic steroids and male hormones to teenage players. Seven students who attended the baseball class took a doping test, and two of them tested positive for steroids. As a result, Yeo-sang Lee was sentenced to 10 months in prison from the Seoul West Bureaucrat, and the KADA was also suspended for 6 years from the date the court sentenced. KBO also accepted KADA’s sanctions intact according to the bylaws.

Lee Yeo-sang, who was expected to stop in amateurs, is spreading to the pros, and the entire KBO league is tense again. It is known that KADA plans to officially announce the results of the investigation in the near future.
