Lee Nak-yeon, the representative of the Democratic Party, directly explained the reason for mentioning the amnesty of Lee Myung-bak and Park Geun-hye.

Lee Nak-yeon, head of the Democratic Party, said on the background of referring to the discussions of pardon between former Presidents Lee Myung-bak and Park Geun-hye on the 4th, “We cannot forgive the crimes of the two former presidents. However, as a way to gather the hearts of the people, I thought it was worth reviewing.”

Representative Lee appeared on KBS News 9 on this day and said, “It is very regrettable that I did it without collecting opinions (inside the party). However, he said, “It is a difficult issue to collect opinions,” and “I will be reprimanded.”

He said, “If I only thought about my own interests, I wouldn’t say this.”

Representative Lee said, “It is frustrating that former Presidents Lee Myung-bak and Park Geun-hye do not apologize and disagree with the court judgment. Regardless of what they think, it is right to accept the judgment by the Supreme Court of the Republic of Korea. “If you were the supreme ruler of a country, you should be able to understand the hearts of the people. So I think there will be something like an apology as a leader who understands the pain of the people.”

He also said, “We are frustrated people,” and said, “If you think about the hearts of the people, it is correct to have a feeling of sorry. (Kim Jong-in) You have to think about why the emergency response chairperson apologized.”
