Heungkuk Life’s women’s volleyball team, Lee Jae-young and Lee Da-young, the sister’s mother, who was summoned as the center of controversy over the abuse of the twin sisters, is a national volleyball player.

Like her sisters, Kim Kyung-hee was also at the center of the controversy over collective corporal punishment, which is referred to as the dark history of Korean volleyball history, when playing for the Hyosung Women’s Volleyball Team.

On January 20, 1992, 16 Hyosung women’s volleyball team players who participated in the 9th Presidential Cup National Men’s and Women’s Volleyball 1st round held at the Jangchung Gymnasium in Seoul participated in the game with bruises on their thighs. The bruises struck with a stick were seen outside of a short uniform without healing.

During the game, around 2,000 spectators booed the Hyosung team, and about 100 people visited the team and urged them to immediately stop corporal punishment against the players.

The corporal punishment for the players took place after losing with a set score of 1-3 in a match against Fujifilm at the Suwon Indoor Gymnasium on the 18th, two days before the match. At the time, it was investigated that coach Lee Sang-ho assaulted the players at any accommodation in Anyang City.

Manager Lim admitted to the assault, saying, “I thought that the minds of the players had become very ill. However, there was a controversy over whether he joined the assault with the director because only Kim Kyung-hee, the captain, was not bruised.

Meanwhile, Kim Kyung-hee was known as the No. 1 setter in the rankings among his peers in high school. In 1984, when he was graduating from high school, he signed a double temporary contract with the Hyosung Volleyball Team and the International Volleyball Team, and was caught up in a scout wave.

Later, he joined the Hyosung Volleyball Team under the control of the Volleyball Association. He played an active part in the Hyosung Volleyball Team as a setter and played an active part in the 1988 Seoul Olympics as a national team.

Last year, Mr. Kim Gyeong-hee received the ‘great parent’s award’ organized by the Volleyball Association.
