[시사포커스 / 이근우 기자] It has been argued that manager Frank Lampard has been hardened by excessive demands for recruitment to the Chelsea board.

British media’Dailystar’ said on the 26th (local time), “Director Lampard has been angered by the Chelsea board team with a continuous request for £80 million (about 121.1 billion won). Manager Lampard said that the demand to sign Declan Rice was a big problem.”

Lampard, who signed a three-year contract with Chelsea in July 2019, was sacked after 18 months. In the 2020-21 season, Chelsea were also considered one of the best candidates to win the English Premier League, but they are currently ranked 10th in the league with 8 wins, 5 draws, 6 losses and 29 points.

Initially, it was reported that Lampard had been hardened due to poor performance, but according to the media, Chelsea made a different claim that Lampard’s excessive demands for recruiting players were hard. It has been reported that manager Lampard and the Chelsea board continued to have conflict over the signing of West Ham United midfielder Rice.

After the end of last season, Chelsea recruited more than £200 million (about KRW 302.9 billion) to coach Lampard, including Hakim Ziech, Timo Werner, Kai Harberts, Thiago Silva, and Ben Chilwell, but their results were far short of last season. He said he was hard when he wanted to recruit players again.

Meanwhile, 14 managers have changed over 17 years after Roman Abramovich’s acquisition of Chelsea in 2003, and Chelsea have nominated former Paris Saint-Germain coach Thomas Tuchel as a replacement for Lampard.
