Kumho Petrochemical unveils five new director candidates

Kumho Petrochemical held the board of directors and confirmed and disclosed the agenda of the 44th regular shareholders’ meeting. As five of Kumho Petrochemical’s 10 directors expire this year, Kumho Petrochemical released four outside directors and one internal director with expertise in finance, legal, ESG, gender diversity, and sales.

As the first candidate for an outside director, Jeong-mi Lee, attorney at Logos Law Firm, was recommended. After completing the 16th Judicial Research and Training Institute, Lee served as a Constitutional Judge at the Constitutional Court until 2017 after serving as a Deputy Judge at the Seoul Central District Court.

As a representative female leader who served as the second female constitutional judge and the head of the constitutional court twice in history, as well as legal expertise, an open ESG policy based on legal principles has established a system for diversity and the socially underprivileged within the organization. It is evaluated that it can be built.

The second candidate is Professor Park Soon-ae, Graduate School of Public Administration, Seoul National University. Prof. Park has served as a member of the Ministry of Environment’s Central Environmental Conservation Advisory Committee, and is currently a member of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy’s New and Renewable Energy Policy Council, and a vice-chairman of the Environmental Policy Association. He is an expert in the field of environmental policy.

Professor Park is expected to play an important role in embracing his experiences in environmental policy and performance management as ESG policies and discussing concrete implementation plans.

As the third candidate, Do-sung Choi, a seat professor at Gachon University’s Business School, was recommended. Professor Choi served as the president of the Korea Securities Research Institute while he was a professor at the Department of Business Administration at Seoul National University. Afterwards, he served as a member of the Bank of Korea Finance and Monetary Committee, working as an expert in finance and finance.

Currently, he is expected to provide insights on sustainable economic growth by serving as a director of Korea Impact Finance, which distributes funds for social and environmental projects. Professor Choi is also a candidate for a member of the Audit Committee.

Fourth, Hwang Lee-seok, a professor at Seoul National University School of Business, is not only preemptively preparing the company’s internal accounting management system based on his expertise in the corporate governance sector, but also an innovative direction in a governance policy environment where non-financial indicators are reinforced. It is expected to present.

Professor Hwang served as an outside director or chairman of the Audit Committee of major domestic listed companies in various industries such as LG H&H and CJ CGV. Professor Hwang is also a candidate for a member of the Audit Committee along with Professor Do-Sung Choi.

As the executive director, Jong-hoon Baek, executive director of the sales division of Kumho Petrochemical, was recommended as a candidate. Executive Vice President Baek is evaluated to have led a step forward in Kumho Petrochemical’s synthetic rubber and synthetic resin divisions, such as NB Latex, through active sales and cost improvement.

From 2016 to 2019, when Baek took over, Kumho Petrochemical’s operating income on a separate basis rose 125% from 138.6 billion to 299.9 billion. And established the foundation for improved profit generation.
