[이데일리 스타in 이석무 기자] Frederic Kudron (Belgium), the’Three Cushion Emperor’, has been eliminated.
Kudron lost to Glenn Hoffman (the Netherlands) with a set score of 1-3 in the round of 16 of’SK Rent-a-Car PBA-LPBA World Championship 2021′ held at Grand Walkerhill Hotel in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul on the 3rd.
It was Hoffman, a’best friend’, that held back Kudron, who was considered the most influential candidate for the championship. Hoffman easily won the 1st set 15-1 after 3 innings with 11 high runs. The second set also won an overwhelming victory with 15-3. The 3rd set was brought by Kudron 15-7, but Hoffman won the 4th set 15-6 again and finished the match. Hoffmann’s average score in the round of 16 that day was a whopping 2.476.
Kudron admitted defeat after the game. “Hoffman is the best player to beat almost all players, but it’s undervalued.”
Kim Jae-geun, who is about to marry, advanced to the quarterfinals by defeating Eddie Repence (Belgium) with a set score of 3-1. Kim Jae-geun, who is about to get married, expressed his determination, “I will give the winning trophy as a wedding present to the bride who has been cheering.”
Another championship candidate, Philippos Casido Costas (Greece), won a set score of 3-2 after a full-set battle with Moon Sung-won, reaching the quarterfinals with a hard time.

The PBA-LPBA Quarterfinal will run on the 4th. In the PBA quarterfinal, Hoffman and Gangdonggung meet. Kim Jae-geun confronts Cassido Costas, the number one in the rankings. The quarterfinals of Zapata vs. Maminkam and Wemaz vs. Kim Jong-won will be held.
